Jumpgate Evolution: EU-Pilot Dura opens gates of hell

| 22 Sep 2003 20:35

Last night, pilot Dura of squad Octa Armada almost suceeded in single-handedly destroying TRI when he used an unknown device to somehow manipulate the anomaly inside the gate from Outer Gyre to Pulsar. He believed he would summon Horridahl, the counterpart to the main deity in Quantar religion, Hamalzah. However he obviously lured a fleet of Sentient Conflux into our space which immediately started to cause havoc upon their arrival.

Pilot Dura immediately fled the scene, but was chased and taken down. The fleet that had escorted him there consisted of 18 mostly Octavian fighter and heavy fighter class ships, most of which were destroyed almost instantly. There is differing information on the size of the Conflux fleet, witnesses' reports vary from 8 to 12 vessels ranging from Manta class to the newly discovered Stingray class.

After having dealt with the fleet in Outer Gyre, the alien fleet entered Octavian space and attacked everything in sight. They jumped from sector to sector, attacked the pilots there and moved on. Finally, several Octavian pilots formed fleets to intercept and engage the invaders. After several hours and heavy losses on the defenders' side, the Sentients returned to Conflux space.

It is still unknown how Dura summoned the Conflux, but this is only a minor mystery. Far more interesting is the fact that during the attacks the individual 'Qunash' is reported to have spoken to the pilots in his sector, announcing their deaths and seemingly commanding the Sentient Conflux. However noone saw a pilot with that name in the sector, which has lead to speculations that this "Qunash" was actually part of the invasion fleet. These speculations are unconfirmed as of yet however.

When the remainder of the Conflux fleet finally left TRI space via the anomaly in Imperial Causeway, 'Qunash' threatened to return with a bigger fleet soon. Pilots, be aware!
