Here is a quick state of affairs for you.
We've created a new forum (you are standing in it). This will be for Devs to start topics. To keep the forum focused, we only allow devs to start topics but anyone can respond to them. The SWG Discussion Forum will remain as a place where you can converse with each other about the game design. We will still be reading it (as much as we can) and the moderators will still be forwarding us good posts from it. We do strongly recommend that you take most of your discussion to either your galaxy forum or your profession forum. If you aren't looking for Dev attention, the Galaxy forum is your best one for discussing things in the game because the people posting there are the same ones you might meet in the game. It is a great forum for arranging events, putting together hunting parties or finding those items you are looking for. Work with your correspondent on the profession forum to elevate your concern to a dev.
Secondly, we've put out an offer to our new Assistant Community Relations Manager. I'll give you more details in a week or two (yes, it will take more time, the person has to officially accept, fill out paperwork and actually move his life to Austin).
Third, we've got the all the system devs set up to talk to the Correspondents on the Correspondent Forum. Please note, the Correspondents are there to funnel information. They are not elite super-users who control the devs. They just help to focus the devs on the top issues on the Correspondent Forums.
Fourth, the publish. Yes, everyone's question is "when is it and what does it include". Well we are currently compiling the update notes for it. I've been reading through over 350 pages of changes and filtering out the ones you don't need to know or won't make sense. No those aren't stealth nerf, they are boring things like:
Changed dialog in Palu's string file so she doesn't say robe, she says suit.
script recompile.
pushing ClientDataFileManager.h with newer WearableCustomizationSetInt() directive to swg-content-label
some collision world debugging info
Once we get this list whittled down to something manageable, it needs to be translated to common speak, organized and sent around for review. After that, we'll put it up on In Development. After that it gets put to In Testing, when the publish goes to Test Center. That should be happening this week or next. After a week or two of testing, it will go to the live servers. I would love to give your specific dates on all of this, but am not allowed to right yet. The reason is all this stuff has to get through testing. If we announce a date, we are invoking Murphy's Law and there will be unexpected things showing up on test that delay it. Eventually, we will get our schedule more reliable. I think we need to get through these big added features first though.
Ok, I'm going back to reading update notes. Joy.
