For those of you who spent the past few months hiding in an ice roid somewhere in deep space, JGRotPro is an application that interfaces with the Jumpgate client to display various information in-game. Basic features include the ability to display ship and equipment statistics and market prices on a special in-game window, access to the myRotacol asteroid database, easy management of artifact search patterns, twelve additional chat macros, and a radar scanning feature that alerts you when certain radar contacts, such as conflux, appear. The very useful JGRot-Script add-on by Isorg allows you to script various actions in Jumpgate and JGRotPro, such as displaying current pilot statistics from the JOSSH website or interfacing with other programs via Jumpgate's chat system.
All very impressive, but it's the new features that have me excited. Several volunteers are lending their support to the team, and their efforts promise to bring JGRotPro to a new level of functionality. Here's a quick rundown of what's been added in the past few weeks:
" "Headlights" illuminates every object within visible range of your ship, but display a small graphic over your crosshairs. Great for finding those black semiflux roids; not so great for targetting that dark colored Phoenix raking your shields.
" POS Market Lister that displays market information for published Player-Owned Stations. It's still in development, but quite useful if you can stand the occasional bugs.
" New JGRot-Script scripts that allow you to use basic Winamp commands from inside Jumpgate. Play, skip, pause, and even load playlists without alt-tabbing.
" JOSSH lookup scripts for JGRot-Script display equipment statistics and find equipment on POS markets.
The myRotacol team is also researching the possibility of creating an in-game web browser, and efforts are being made at creating an in-game message board for the EU server.
