Kwee, our very own Gamer Girl, had a bit of an exciting time (well, irritating at least) time during the recent storms spawning in the wake of Hurricane Isabel:
September 18th began like any other typical weekday for me. My sadistic children woke me up at dawn. No I'm not exaggerating, in fact, I think the smaller one actually woke up 15 or 20 minutes before dawn. I managed to convince my hubby to stay home in case strong winds made traveling dangerous (he has a long commute). In the early afternoon my father-in-law (we are temporarily living in my gamer in-laws' upstairs rooms) suggested that my mom-in-law and I might want to put five or six days of maintenance into our harvesters, factories, and houses in case Hurricane Isabel came our way and we lost power. Pooh pooh, I thought, the power companies would surely have the power up within 6 hours if a branch fell on a line in the neighborhood. Not to mention that last prediction had the hurricane hitting land hundreds of miles away, and all we had seen thus far was a little wind.
