The Sim Medieval is a fantasy life simulation adventure game set in medieval Europe. The focus on the game is a kingdom that players help build, managing several types of "heroes" to achieve a previously-selected kingdom ambition. Unlike other games in the Sims franchise, customization and control of characters and buildings is relatively limited and Sims do not age. Players select two traits and one flaw for each hero and send heroes out on quests to further the kingdom's ambition. The Sims Medieval is the first game in the Sims franchise to feature a definitive beginning and end.
